Spanking to be Illegal in Scotland

I've also heard hitting a child in the face referred to as "spanking", but perhaps the scariest thing is how it's so common for parents to talk about hitting their kids in the mouth as punishment for speaking disrespectfully.

The MOUTH!?!?!? That's probably one of the worst places on the body to hit.

Rather than ban spanking, I think there should be laws regulating the practice for safety, so that the idiots out there don't get the idea that literally punching your kid in the mouth is in any way an acceptable method of discipline.

Even there the issue is that many parents find slapping acceptable, even non abusive parents and parents who never spank. My mother occasionally slapped, but never spanked.

I got my face slapped many times. It's not something I would do to my own children if I had any, but I wouldn't say I was abused.
