18 years ago today, my baby girl Cortney came into this world and it's been a sheer joy every moment since (well, close...).
I couldn't be prouder of the young woman she's become, smart, stubborn (guess who mom says she gets that from), tenacious, strong (mentally and physically), and resilient. She's a huge presence in her 5'1," 95lb package. Next week she graduates from high school, so it's a big time all around with a lot of change and more to change this fall when college starts.
We love them all equally (honestly kids, we do), but there's always something about the first...finding out your wife's expecting, being paranoid throughout the whole pregnancy, the first moment you lay eyes on the biggest change in your life there ever possibly could be, being so careful with everything they eat, do...and for some reason there's always way more baby photos of the first....all the mistakes you make with that first one that you learn from and (hopefully) do things different with the rest.
She won't read this (but we'll obviously tell her), happy birthday Cort, your mom and I couldn't be prouder...
