Who did you go with that time? Your mom, or Brooke, or some other family member or friend?

I went with a guy that mom works with. He said he would take me on the next juvenile hunt.

That sounds great. Are those just one-day outings, or do you stay out for several days at a time?
My boys haven't been hunting, but have gone out with their uncle just for recreational shooting.

It was just a one day hunt. I can't go on full weekend until I'm 17.

Congratulations! It's nice to know that other members shoot with their kids. Both my husband and I grew up around firearms and he collects them. All our children are well educated in firearms safety -- I think it speaks well to personal discipline and contributes to a responsible lifestyle.

Congratulations on your shooting. She's obviously a good shot.

I never noticed this thread before. Thanks for bumping it up, Ann.

Amy and I shoot too. Just 22s at the rifle range but we're both decent shots. Amy is much better than I am. She started shooting when she was ten. She saw a video online and thought it looked like fun so we went to the range and it was. We just do it for fun but they have been after Amy to try shooting in competition.

A gun is a tool just like a knife. You have to know how to use tools safely or somebody can get hurt. The intense emotions over guns always leave me gasping. Please let's not let this degenerate into one of those pointless debates about guns. Nobody on either side EVER changes their mind so let's not go there.

Oh, yes. It really is just something that varies. Some places have stricter control, but also universal gun experience through conscription. Others are more like Canada and US (which vary a lot themselves).
