RE: Child Abuse?
That would most likely be considered assault.

RE: Child Abuse?
Perhaps, but it certainly should not be considered abusive in a reasonable context.

So some people want random people to be able to come up and grab stuff and smack your kids with it? That's INSANE. They aren't YOUR kids, even if YOU ARE the manager. That was thuggish and disgusting.

Have more class.

I agree. This is wrong on various levels.

Corporal punishment should be done by the parents or at least with the parents consent.
It should never be done in the heat of the moment or in anger.
It should never be done in public.

Even if a parent at home had done a "whooping" this way, it would be the wrong approach for me. A spanking should be a controlled process, this is just violence.

I agree it wasn't the store manager's place to do that. By now he's probably been charged with assault and rightly so. The other part of the video seems to have escaped most people. The mother doesn't seem the least concerned that her son was caught stealing.

Good point Nancy! Parents can sometimes be too overprotective and fail to discipline when it is obviously needed.

RE: Child Abuse?
I do believe this crosses the line of abuse. The store manager clearly is not in control.

I agree Nancy It wasn’t the store managers place to discipline the kid.

However the mothers complete lack of concern for what her boy has been up to is just wrong.

Had he been mine his bottom would have been having a rather one sided conversation with the hairbrush once we got home and he would have been going back to the store to apologise to the manager.
