I haven't faced this question yet but my inclination is to go the opposite way: no 'double jeopardy'. A school punishment stays at school and need not be reinforced at home with a paddle.

That is in no way critical of parents who elect to punish for school matters, it is probably a product of the English "Public" (which means private, boarding) school system in which I had two separate lives: school for ten weeks, home, school, etc.

I am definitely in favor of school corporal punishment; although I can see it working better in Christian and private schools, I think it should be welcome in public schools also, with the right public attitude, which seems to be the case in the schools these girls attend.

Overall this is a great discussion; the website has a nice collection of daily life comments (which is nice) but it definitely sensationalizes them.
Quote:The United States is just one of 69 countries where school corporal punishment is still legally permitted, joining countries such as Iran, Iraq, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Somalia who have also yet to abolish the practice.
An interesting thing to note, as North Korea is one of the places that has abolished school corporal punishment, at least in schools that officially exist; something that anti-spanking activists might not be happy to hear about. Depending on your POV, one might add to this list of unfortunate anti-spanking countries the Republic of the Congo and Venezuela. The obvious conclusion is that this is a very bad argument to make, it is logically unfounded even on the basis of correlation. And even looking at the more "positive" examples, that gets into a whole other debate.

Getting paddled at school sux because they call your parents 1st and then the next day paddle you 6th period .
The bad part is parents like mine use a belt when I get in trouble at school . Some peoples parents think 1 punishment is enough .
Its not fair to get double punishment when somebody else didn't .

I'm so glad they can't paddle here. Samantha says a lot she wished they could.

Anything that they inform her of, I get my butt spanked.

I tend to agree that delaying a punishment and telling parents adds to the punishment. Corporal punishment is most effective if it is swift justice. Delaying it and telling parents is adding to the punishment in my book.

On another issue if your school is only using the paddle only on boys it does not teach you much about sexual equality!

As girls we do appreciate equality and that should be in all things including punishments it’s only fair
