I work as a software engineer. Well my son has been getting into programming lately, so of course with me being the resident expert, I am helping him learn.
Well we just finished working on a joint project together. It was a relatively small project, but it was a full-stack MVC web application with a SQL database and PHP (gross, I know), and he did very well with minimal instruction.

Good for him. It's nice to find your passion. Does he see himself in software development as a career?

I wished I knew a lot more then what I do when it comes to computers. It is great your son has taken an interest in something you can share your expertise in.

Wow, I'm shocked to see a modern software developer using PHP anymore! Very nice. I code in PHP/MySQL.

PHP is the main programming language I use as well. I have learned a bit of Python and will admit that is easier.
