Who Decides Dinner?
#11
We create a meal plan for the week and then i try my best at cooking them. There are my special dishes, mostly fish and pasta receipts that are delicious and that my boys love as well. When it comes to new meals they taste either wonderful or extremly awful.

That way she can plan to reuse ingredients and use more expensive ingredients than we'd usually be able to afford because everything gets used multiple times. It's amazing to me how many different dishes (and cultural food) Maddie takes on. French, Spanish, Basque, Cuban, Jamaican. She even made brats and pretzels from scratch in October since we couldn't go to the local oktoberfest this year

I would like to learn to cook all that kind of stuff but mostly I think the cooking done here is just to fill us up. My mom has time for that kind of stuff in summer time but who wants to be in a kitchen then.
Do you learn from your sister?
At least we are starting cookies this weekend.

How old was your daughter when she started to do the cooking every other night?
Are you and your daughter more like friends now or are you still mom?

Learning to cook is not that difficult. If you can read a recipe, you can cook. It's a life skill that everybody needs. By cooking I do not mean putting a frozen meal in the microwave.

Cleaning has got to be done no matter what, especially around food.

It's simple, wash your hands before and after touching raw meat, especially poultry.

Amy was 13 and taking home ec in school and asked if she could cook a meal. I said sure and she did. It was very good. For a while she cooked a meal once in a while when she wanted to cook, but eventually we started to just split it. I think she was about 15 by then and said that she'd rather cook than clean up when I cooked. She likes to cook and has tried some very adventurous dishes.

Amy chose to stay at home for her first university degree. I am still her mom first, but she's mature enough now that we rarely clash over things. We are friendly and get along well. Our relationship is very cooperative. She really grew up between 17 and 18, like a switch had been thrown.

Won't you always be like mom first even when she is a mom to her own kids?

I never had a homec class cause of the virus and now my school now doesn't do Homec classes.

Scarlette gags at everything and so she will probably have to live with our mom for forever or starve. Big Grin

I've cooked for my mom a couple of times but I like it better when we cook together. You know I said something not to nice about my mom just cooking to fill us up and then tonight were having spaghetti and meatballs cause I told her yesterday that I want that.
You know I shouldn't never complain cause there are kids I know who get up and only have cereal for breakfast but my mom cooks breakfast every morning and she don't even buy cereal so shame on me for not appreciating what she does you know.

Cereal is my FAVORITE breakfast. Smile I love cocoa puffs and cinnamon toast crunch. No better way to start my day than with a bowl of sugar.

My Tatiana will help in the kitchen if I am making tacos. It would seem I don't spice them well enough.
No sugar cereal in my house. We do a lot of porridge if it is a school day. We change up the fruits to have a little bit of variety.

Rosie, you are right. I'll always be mom first.

I like cooking with Amy too. We sometimes just fall into that if we're talking and cooking at the same time.

Over the last years I have gotten quite obsessed with health, workouts and nutrition. So I cook all meals and make sure we only have appropriate groceries at home. The specifics of each day they sometimes give input and then we decide.
