I don't know if this has ever been posted before on here but I found this some years ago and thought it might be interesting to post. It's meant to be humourous, I think. Most of the young people here seem to have a much more positive and accepting attitude towards corporal punishment even though they no doubt don't like it.

Wonder what he does to get in trouble
Also, is a bamboo stick used for anything but correcting children? looks like a different kind of paddle to me

Bamboo sticks are usually a garden item often used to support plants. My parents have often used them to grow runner beans up them as in the picture.

I believe that canes traditionally used in schools to punish children were usually rattan or birchwood rather than bamboo.
