The True Meaning of Christmas - Garth - 12-12-2020

A contemporary spiritual teacher said “Doing is never enough if you neglect Being ”. I think the doing at Christmas is the giving and receiving of presents, the decorating and the tree, the family get togethers and of course Santa Clause among many other things. This I think is the doing of Christmas and of course great fun for all of us. The Being is the spiritual part of Christmas and unfortunately often neglected by many of us. So what is Being? Because it is a spiritual experience it is difficult to put into words. Being to me means you are connecting with God. You experience His love and because you love yourself you can love others. You feel compassion for those less fortunate then yourself because you see yourself in them. You are forgiving because you know unconscious people like Jesus said on the cross “Know not what they do”. Being completes Christmas. However without it, it is just another holiday. Merry Christmas to all and God Bless!
