I think the Syracuse Kansas school method worked well... before it was eliminate a couple years ago. Basically it was like the 5th or 6th step on their progressive discipline scale and if corporal punishment was deemed necessary the parent/guardian was called in to deliver the spanking. If the parent/guardian objected to spanking the student would receive 1-3 day In-School Suspension depending on the infraction.

In Canada there is no longer corporal punishment in schools. This I think is a good thing. Better the parents do the discipline at home. I do agree with suspending students but I think they should be "in house" as some kids who get suspended and are sent home just see it as a holiday and learn nothing from their misbehaviour.

I still think it is a good to have options open, unless of course it is A. over the top, or B. followed up with more at home.
