I like the in depth response he made. Most people don't focus that long on one scenario. He gave her invaluable insights. I noticed, she kept saying, it'll get easier when they're older. I wonder how many people think that. My mom had nine for a couple of years. Her six and three orphans. Growing up, I never saw things get easier as we aged.

My mother was a saint. She might have had dishes in the sink all day, but she helped us make mudcakes. We knew we were more important than the ironing.

Even a bad parent can be a Saint. For example an alcoholic parent can teach their child the evils of addiction. An unconscious parent can teach their child to enjoy the present moment and transcend our little selves. There are many ways a parent can teach and without the challenges they may present to us whether it be mental illness or just ignorance, we may never have become more aware as humans and loving.
