Michael, both Massachusetts and California have taken cases to their Supreme Court relevant to spanking, and have lost. I think they and others were surprised. New York had a major case that was lost, as well.

I've not done work in New Hampshire. My impression is, while they may have liberal leaning politics, they are ruggedly independent. Those very independent minded voters generally reject government intrusion..

In Canada our Supreme Court ruled in 2002 that spanking is legal with certain restriction. I expect the ruling will remain the law at least for the rest of my life time.

Very interesting reading in this thread.

I absolutely agree in regard to CA. I fully expected it to be one of the two that don't allow CP in private schools. Iowa surprises me a bit.

I never expected Iowa. It's a big homeschooling state.. Maybe some tragedy triggered it.
