Approved for foreign exchange student program

That is exciting Chris. You should feel proud that you got chosen. Having opportunities like that while you are in school are quite an accomplishment. There is definitely a lot to think about. Regardless of your decision, that makes up for the last few days that you have had.

Thank you Mr Nick. I found out today that Thailand has been added to my list. Mrs Howell (counselor) that is helping me with this says that between now and the time I go I'll have many different countries. So right it's just look and think about all the options.

Thailand might be pretty cool also.
There are so many people that will never step foot outside of the United States. Having an opportunity too go to school in another Country for a semester or a year is something you will always remember. I agree that there are concerns about going places, but I have never really heard of High School exchange students running into problems.

I am looking forward to it although I'm nervous and mom is really worried. It's funny I'm not her kid but it is really like she is. I'll miss her a she will worry about me. But I do want to do it.

Chris, you're her kid. Natalie is our kid. She's only been here a week. (preceded by ten years of others) When someone make a sacred commitment to parent a child, it's like having a new baby. It doesn't matter how old you are.

You build a relationship just like the day you hold an infant in your arms. You don't know that little guy yet. You're probably thinking, what did I get myself into? But you love them with all your heart anyway. My goodness. Think about. You came potty trained, feeding and dressing yourself. Y'all hit the ground running.

It's obvious she's your Mom, and you're her kid. You don't have to be blood to be a family. Families are all different. When you have kids of your own, this first thirteen years will be doubled and tripled. One day most of your life will be about your today family with Kimberley. Keep making these memories together. ❤

Thank Mrs V that was very nice and thoughtful. I always enjoy reading your comments from what I've said. I hope this doesn't offend you but it's like you're a grandma to a lot of us on here. Sorry if that bothers you but with all your experience with kids, adult kids you have so much knowledge on raising kids. Ma'am I know she's my mom maybe not biologically but I know God put me with her because he knew long before that she would be the best mother to me than anyone ever could. I do love her and don't want to hurt her by going. I know sometimes I mess up and get in trouble with her but I guess that's part of growing up and learning.

I've honored to be a grandma. Chris. I've been one for over twenty years. So I'm willing to claim it. Yeah, you're not alone. Our Nicolaas got it last night. He got a bad attitude and a lot of mouth with his Dad over playing too much on his Xbox.

Yeah Mrs V I know all about bad attitude soankings. I actually got one Sunday from my aunt Amy. I was over her house helping do some work and she said and I guess I did had a small little bad attitude nothing to bad with her because I didn't want to be over there. Well I apparently rolled my eyes, well I did but didn't think she could see me but she did. That was all it took I spanked on the spot and told I had better finish up and not have one more attitude with her or she would get her paddle. I was good the rest of the day after that.

Thailand sounds very exotic and so interesting, Chris. But you should know they have the cane in schools there, and use it quite a lot, I'm told. Perhaps school discipline is one of the things you should take into account when choosing a country!

So sorry to hear you're unwell. I'll keep you in my prayers and thoughts. Hope you get well very soon; ears are a particular problem, as you can't get at them to do anything, like put antiseptic on.

I thought that was the case, Frankie. I suggested Chris get a copy of the agreement first. Some countries are real sticklers about corporal punishment. Some even use it in their court system. Of course, most of Europe is against CP. I would begin with the exchange program agreement first, before I even considered a country. Those groups vary in how they handle students and host families.
