I showed this thread to Ivy and she was super excited! She also wanted to say thank you and that she had a really fun birthday, with the exception of her spanking (she did earn a "real" spanking).

A belated Happy Birthday to Ivy from our daughters Rachel (7) and Leah (4), as well as our boys.

Our children all have the philosophy that a spanking is just part of being a kid, and you do not allow that to ruin your day. You get it, and forget about it (except you do learn what you need to do not to get one again!).

So- we hope it did not ruin your birthday, Ivy!

Bob, I suspect with the numbers of kids. You're like us. Episodes of spankings occur more often than in smaller families. So, you can't get too bogged down by that or anything else much.. Everybody keeps moving on.

In our case, we've got 33 hanging out around our farm. We get into multiples, when cousins get the herd mentality and get into mischief together. It seems like the more gathered, the bolder they are and the one upmanship can go wrong quickly. Special Occasions are vulnerable to that virus. When the numbers go up, the odds go up.

I'm taking your comment and adapting to Southernspeak, as a slogan. We, kids included, like sayings. So "ya dunnit, ya got it, time y'all forgot it." just went into our colloquial basket!!Tongue
