UK spanking
#1
I notice in today’s news that a bill will be passed by the Scottish government banning parents from using reasonable chastisement (spanking) to correct their children lm sure that while criminalising many loving caring parents it’s going to be one of these unenforceable so rather pointless laws. Is the alternative to remove children from loving homes and place them in care.

Interestingly a few of the major churches are opposed to this law.

It’s thought that England, Wales and Ireland will pass the same law quite quickly.

It will not work. It hasn’t in the countries that have already banned spanking and it won’t work here. Stay calm and carry on!

Still, these things can be very publicly demoralizing if enforced even a little bit. And we have plenty of people who would love to enforce these laws. Face to face discussions and public acceptance of this kind of punishment is essential, IMHO, and especially these kinds of conversations.
