Is it just me, or have IM apps like trillian, allowed people to be ruder? I have had my trillian screen name up, since joining the group. I have met some nice people on trillian off of this message board, But I have increasingly found and talked to people who just stop responding in the middle of the conversation and sign off. staying logged in all the time, so you have no idea if they are there or not, and when you send multiple Hello? messages, say every couple of hours or something, not like every 5 minutes, but maybe one in the morning, and one in the afternoon, and one at night. they get upset with you, as if you are somehow able to figure out if they are there or not.

Does anyone actually sign in, talk, say goodbye if they have to leave, and sign off anymore?

people who are always signed in i dont bother messaging anymore. if i have to go i will say goodbye. i will admit if im chatting to someone and they stop replying i will usually sign out without saying goodbye but that is often cos we stopped chatting a while ago. the only time i will sign out mid conversation is that if im in trouble and have to get off.

I sometimes lose the connection mid-conversation.

Sometimes it's a lost connection. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but there are a lot of people that just depart without saying goodbye. I think that's rude too. I have accidentally left myself logged in after I've left. That can happen too, but if it's being done carelessly, that's rude too. All I can do is try to be polite and considerate myself. The ones that are deliberately rude, I eventually just block and move on.

Alex, that is my biggest pet peeve! I don't understand why people can't tell you they have to go at least. I know lost connections happen now and then, but this happens to me all the time. It also frustrates my boys when they're allowed to get on the computer and chat with someone. A simple 'gtg' is all I ask, so I know not to be waiting around!

I agree I would love a regular conversation by message as opposed to a message or two here or there. Yes, sometimes ya get disconnected or have to run but we all should make effort to say bye. Some back and forth and mutual respect is nice and if a person wants to stop talking tell ya and don't just disappear forever.

I am a big user of FB Messenger, I use it a lot more than Skype, but on my real name of course.
