Punishment Prayer
#1
Just a little outline of a prayer, an example of one that could be used, once the tears are mostly dry, maybe still some sniffling, to conclude a discipline session
Dear Lord, we humbly pray and ask that you
Help us continue to keep resisting the devil so he will flee and stay away, help us as a family remove any foolishness in the heart through Godly correction.
We pray that the lesson taught by this session is taken to heart to help the children be wise, strong, humble, reliant on God and obedient to their parents.
Please help this little girl and boy love honor and obey their parents in all things and trust in their guidance.
we ask that you wash away the guilt of their sins that have been confessed during this punishment.
Amen

I sometimes use a prayer before we get down to business, and if I do, I draw attention to my own fallibility.

If we use a prayer (probably 70% of the time) I make it about what 'we are about to do' NOT about what I am doing to them.

I always invite the recipient to say some words, too.

I would do the prayer together with the child and make sure we're on the same page.
