God knows nothing about suffering. He only knows Joy as that is who He is. Jesus suffered on the cross to prepare for us for His resurrection. The question that might be asked than is spanking truly Holy. I think it is not in and of itself. But as Jesus taught us if suffering leads to our salvation than it is indeed Devinne. I never spanked a child to inflict pain. Spanking has to go beyond pain and suffering to be meaningful from a spiritual point of view. It can be symbolic but to be real it has to bring about both our own and our child's resurrection!
